Update: The demolition worker suffered two broken legs and the police officer also broke his leg as he attempted to rescue the worker.

I am still waiting to here who the contractor on site was.

A worker and a police officer were injured in the partial collapse of an abandoned Dallas-area building that was being demolished.

Investigators say the Irving police officer went into the building to rescue the worker, who briefly was trapped in the one-story structure.

Both were eventually freed. Authorities do not believe either has life-threatening injuries.

Police believe a worker using a piece of heavy equipment hit a support beam, causing the unexpected collapse of a portion of the structure.
