Sorry for the late replies, we have been pretty busy around here with traveling and working on a new forum/site redesign for here, I will be posting on what’s been going on and what we are adding/doing today.

Like demobud said, it’s difficult to weed out the “tire kickers”, there always will be, but at the same time we have to welcome them here. Have there been some recent post where new members have posted an intro and then asked a very “newbie” question, yes. But after 11,000 post this has only happened a few times and we can live with that.

I’ve never thought about a paid section/forum. When I first launch this I always wanted this place to be free to all the members who join. This is something that I will do some further research on.

But my question to you guys is what would go on or what would be said in this area? I can tell you this we will always have a free open section of the forum, that I can be sure of. Or maybe instead of a paid section, we can create an “advanced/senior” member area that is private, but base this on the number of post and/or time here on the forum.

Although I understand what you are stating, I have to look at the bigger picture and wonder why people would come to each other for advice over a forum that is host to a variety of users both national and international. Why bother having a forum if you can't offer some one some advice if they ask. Surely it wasn't James intention(at least from what I gather) to make this place into some sort of trophy room and cigar lounge, although I am surely not someone who can say I wouldn't boast and show pictures of any work I did or equipment I own.

Sometimes it's good to ask questions. The advice you take in may be the advice that makes you several grand more on a job, or the advice you give could put you in touch with some work down the road. Anthing to improve the industry to make it more efficient, both in technology, technique and professionalism.

Myself, I'd never write anyone off if they ask a legitimate question. If they directly competed with me, maybe I wouldn't be so loose with the info, if it was someone across the country, no big deal. Just my opinion.

Dan, I get where you're coming from, although I'm not sure if there is any way to weed out the "posers" or "tire kickers" (for lack of a better term) on a public forum. I am a forum member on a couple of other forums that have gotten around this by having actual paying member only areas; James might want to weigh in on that idea since it's his baby.
Probably the best way to deal with this issue is either not respond or to respond with "figure it out yourself like I did".
I would hate to alienate potential good demo guys but I know we have to balance that with not doing someones estimating or demo plan for them.
James, any thoughts?

TKC and George I really apprciate your feedback. TKC I really like the end of your post "It's time for a change". You know when I first got back into this business I worked for the typical cowboy, batterd imaged demolition company. But as I learned quiet fast about this industry I learned aout the strength, integrity, and knowledge that goes into our industry, and you know what I love it, cherish it and want to grow even farther than it has in the past 10-15 years.
Guys the reason that I am getting upset is when I first joined this site I thought it was for the demolition professional. But as I look around I see some of the old timers and true demo boys walking away. I wish there was some way we could weed out the others. But thats just me. By the way TKC I liked your post about the Europe work Board.

Since there is no Rants and Raves section to the forum I guess I will do it here (please james I am sorry if this is not the section). The people that know me on this forum, especially the ones I work with or have worked with know that I am very dedicated to the industry (furthering eduacation, safety, experience, repuatation, image and quality). The one thing that has been burning me like no other lately is certain post. These post are the ones asking people to teach them how to do demo, but bids together, etc. Listen I m glad that more people are showing an interest in the demolition industry but.....they need to earn there dues.
What I mean by this is a lot if these people end being the people that take the food and water from our tables because they are the always the "Low Bidders" and in some cases get people hurt because they are doing jobs that they have no right evening bidding.
I think that instead of making a introduction post and then asking how to complete bids, do demo jobs etc. etc. You maybe should do some research on the industry, see how hard many have worked to get were we are at and pointing the industry in the right direction. I dont know about the rest and I will not speak for the rest, but I am tired of the industry being looked down upon when in my eyes we are some of the most skilled of all the trades out there. Thanks for your time and I hope that I am not over reacting.
