The next couple of days you might wake up to the new site, we are working out some last minute kinks and working on some back-end stuff. When we do shut down it will be later in the night, as not to interrupt the forum too much.
We are going to be working on some screencast for some of the areas, as a couple things have changed where they are located.
We look forward to hearing your feedback.
Been working hard on the new site. Everything is coming along nicely. Due to plans this weekend, it might be later next week, on Monday the 8th.
Again, we want to make sure everything is working. This is gonna be a huge change for everyone, including me. We're still looking forward to it and I think you guys are going to be happy with it.
Okay they finally released 4.0.2 which fixed lots of bugs. I am going to working with the new site this weekend and see how that goes. If all goes well, we might be looking at a March 1st release. (keeps fingers crossed)
Little bit of an update, the software developers are still working on some fixes, they are delaying the next release for an undetermined amount of time, some are say a 7 to 10 days, But just don't know for sure.
I'm just hoping before March 1st. I really want to get the new site going. But when we are customizing the new site and if I continue adding things and there is some major changes we will be delayed even further.
I found out today that vBulletin's next version will not be out until February 4th. So after we test it out and make sure everything is working on our end, we should be able to go live.
The version that they are releasing will fix over 200 bugs in the current software. So hopefully you'll understand why we are waiting for the relaunch.
I just got back from my last business trip and thought I would post some more screenshots:
I am still hoping for a February 1st launch, but it all depends on vBulletin. They are working on over 200 bugs for the next release, which is due in the next week or two, and I might just wait til then before doing a full launch.

I know that Heavy Equipment Forums is powered by V-Bulletin.
I think that keeping all categories with-in a page that is easy to view on the screen without scrolling down would be key.HEF has way to many sub categories and I feel things don't get seen or become lost in the shuffle.
Yes they are vBulletin. They were supposed to be doing a overhaul of the site. I talked with the new "marketing" folks about it, but that was like 6 months ago, they have a banner saying it's new, but......
So are we okay here, with the layout of the forums?
I'm curious, no one has really brought it up here before.
Looks great.

Keep up the great work.
Looking forward to seeing the finished product.....

When will it kick off James?
Good question...LOL
My goal is to relaunch by/or February 1st, it maybe a little earlier depending on how things go on the back-end. Currently I am ahead of schedule, but that could change as time goes on. I also have 2 trips this month that will also be taking place that could affect the date.
I will post some more screenshots next week as I am working on a few more pages.
I am really looking forward to the launch and I hope you we all be as happy as I am currently with the new look.

looks very impressive, can't wait. have a safe and happy new year to all.
Here is the very first shot of the new front page, the blogs and the forum itself, we are working on getting the logo, post icons, etc. today. So bear in mine this is an ongoing project.
Yesterday I installed the new membership script which will make it easier to join the forum and at the same time have the option to subscribe to Herb's newsletter, or something else we are working on.
Let me know what you think.
Thank you, I really appreciate it and I'm looking forward to to the relaunch.
Merry Christmas to you also.
Wonderful to hear James, I've enjoyed this site since my first day of joining and love the topics and photos.
PS: Keep up the good work sir. HAPPY HOLIDAYS AND MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL OF YOU HERE...
I just wanted to let you all know that I am still around. I have been in and out of town traveling since Thanksgiving. Also I have been doing some back end work to make this the best demolition site out there.
As you can see we have already added a few things here and there. But in the next couple of weeks there will be some pretty big changes. We have a lot of exciting things that we will be implementing to make everyone's stay here an exciting and enjoyable experience.
A couple highlights include:
A new front page (Content Management System)
A new blog, and as well as trusted members can have their own
Login capabilities with Facebook Connect
New classifieds section
Event calendar with upcoming demolition related tradeshows and conferences
Redesigned download page for Herb
