Western State College: New Student Apartment Complex: Abatement/Demolition of Existing Buildings. Estimated Construction Cost: $800,000 Project Description Western State College of Colorado is soliciting bids from either individual abatement/demolition contractors or firms partnered to provide abatement and demolition services as a single entity. All bids should include comprehensive salvage, abatement, demolition and site restoration work in preparation for construction of the New Student Apartment Complex. Scope includes, but is not limited to, complete abatement of hazardous materials and ACM, salvage of approximately 5200 sf of clay roof tile, complete demolition of approximately 40,000 sf of buildings including foundations, demolition of underground steam tunnels, utility disconnects, removal of site concrete and asphalt, clearing and grubbing of trees. Buildings to be abated and demolished are Beckwith Apartments (c. 1948), two stories, L-shaped, 14,400 sf w/ partial basement; Coronado Hall (c. 1937) two-stories, 9940 sf w/ partial basement; Keating Hall (c. 1937) single story, 14,590 sf, w/ partial basement; and the Heating Plant (c. 1934) two stories w/ full basement housing 2 steam boilers, 1400 sf. Underground steam pipe tunnels between the Heating Plant and the associated buildings will also require abatement and demolition (est. at 2500 sf). Provisions will be incorporated into the demolition specification for the grinding/crushing of building debris (concrete foundation and slab on grade) for backfill material. Removal of clay roof tile is specific to Keating Hall and will be subject to the feasibility of salvage operations Bid due 03/08
