The buildings may/may not have asbestos materials inside. The existence, quantity and location of any materials made from asbestos are unknown to the city. However, if involved, removal and disposal of asbestos materials must meet all federal, state, and local requirements. The contractor is responsible for asbestos inspections and all notifications and fees for the demolition and asbestos removal, if applicable.
Demolition includes removal of the structures, and miscellaneous debris associated with the structures to the slab. The slabs shall remain. The trees located in the masonry planters and the masonry planters at 70 N. Avondale Road shall be removed. All other exiting trees on the property are to remain and shall not be damaged. All state and local regulations associated with demolition must be met including the acquisition of a demolition permit, temporary dumpster permits and tree removal permits, as needed. All permits will be acquired from the City of Avondale Estates.
Before demolition commences, the Contractor shall be responsible for providing a letter to the City from the utility company or companies verifying that all utilities have been disconnected and capped at the street. The Contractor shall also be responsible for providing a verification letter from a licensed pest control company approving an appropriate vermin and rat extermination plan. Within the time specified in the demolition permit all debris, trash, litter, rubbish, rubble and foundation exposed above ground level shall be removed from the premises and any excavation or other depression must be filled to existing grade with clean dirt/grassing and all areas must be adequately sloped or drained.
Proposals are to be addressed to the City Manager, Clai Brown, and mailed or delivered to the City of Avondale Estates, 21 N. Avondale Plaza, Avondale Estates, Georgia 30002.
Bids shall be identified on the exterior of the sealed envelope with the title: Avondale Estates Demolition Bid. The proposal shall include the name of the project and the bidder’s name, address and license number, expiration date and classification, narrative outlining the proposed scope of work and price as well as references and prior work examples.
The successful bidder shall be required to furnish insurance in the amount of $1,000,000.
The City of Avondale Estates reserves the right to waive any irregularities or reject any or all proposals.
A pre-bid meeting will be held on Wednesday, February 19, 2014 at 2:00 P.M. in the parking lot of 68 N. Avondale Road. A walk through of both properties will be held at this time. This is not a required meeting.

The emailed questions will only be answered at the pre-bid meeting and additional questions will be taken verbally at this meeting. Answers to all the questions received will be posted on the City’s website.
