Demolition of Structure [Muskegon, Michigan]

The City of Muskegon, Michigan Community and Neighborhood Services office (CNS) is soliciting bids for the demolition a structure located in the City at 2279 Austin Street. The project consists of analyzing contents, demolishing the entire house structure, removing the debris to a properly licensed landfill and filling and grading excavation in accordance with contract documents and the City ordinance. The garage structure will remain. In addition, submit notifications to the Department of Environmental Quality and Air Quality Division at least 10 working days prior to demolition activities. Provide proof of legible notifications at time of permit applications.

The demolition of 2279 Austin is in correlation with the City of Muskegon’s objective of eliminating blight from our neighborhoods and also a component of the City’s aggressive neighborhood redevelopment efforts. This particular project is being financed with funds from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development, with the requirements of Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, Part 61, Subpart M (National Emission Standard of Asbestos); and Rule 942 of Part 55, Air Pollution Control, of the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Act, 1994 PA 451.
Individual bid proposals should be placed inside an envelope, addressed to the City of Muskegon Community and Neighborhood Services office with the title of the demo address and “Demolition” written on the outside of the envelope along with the bidder’s name, address and contact number. All qualified residential contractors are encouraged to submit a bid. This project is subject to Section 3 of the Housing and Urban Development Act of 1968 which seeks to promote, to the greatest possible extent, employment, training and business opportunities for low/moderate-income residents and small businesses of the area.

The bids are due no later than Tuesday, March 11, 2014, by 2:00 p.m. at the City of Muskegon Clerk’s Office on the first floor at 933 Terrace. All bids must be hand delivered. The City of Muskegon reserves the right to reject any or all bids or to waive any in-formalities or irregularities in bidding.
